Friends who often play billiards may notice such a problem: some billiard tables use green tablecloths, while others use blue ones. What do the blue and green colors of billiard tables represent? What's the difference? Blue billiard tables are the international standard color for competitions, while green ones are mainly used by amateurs or for personal entertainment. Why are most of the tablecloths on billiard tables in daily life green? Let's take a look below.

Why is the tablecloth of a billiard table green

1. Green is not easy to hurt the eyes, can relieve eye fatigue and protect players' eyesight. The eyes of players playing billiards are very close to the table surface. The green color does not reflect light and has no adverse effect on the eyes. Even if it lasts for a long time, it will not harm the eyes.

2. The green tablecloth has no reflective effect on the balls on the table, so it won't prevent athletes from aiming at the target balls. If there is reflection when playing billiards, athletes won't be able to play well, which will affect their performance.

For the above two reasons, green is more suitable as the tablecloth for billiard tables.

The difference between blue and green billiard tables

The colors of the billiard table, blue and green, represent different competition rules and uses.

1. Blue billiard table

Blue is the international standard color for competitions, and the material of the tabletop fabric is usually full wool or fine velvet fabric. The blue color enables players to better observe the rotation trajectory of the ball, which is conducive to enhancing the entertainment value and technical skills of the game. Blue billiard tables are usually used in large-scale international and national competitions.

2. Green billiard table

The green billiard table is mainly used for amateurs or personal entertainment. Compared with the blue billiard table, the green one is cheaper and can also offer a good usage effect. However, due to the color, the trajectory and reaction of the ball's movement are not as obvious as those on a blue billiard table. Therefore, green billiard tables are rarely used in some high-level competitions.

It should be noted that although the blue billiard table and the green billiard table differ in color, their sizes, shapes, etc. must all conform to the rules of billiards. Therefore, in actual use, billiard tables of different colors do not have a significant impact on the rules of the game and the way of movement.
